AI is changing far more than the way we work. It’s reshaping how we find information, form opinions, build relationships, and understand the world around us. As the internet fills with AI–generated content, what happens to truth? To democracy? And ultimately, to us?

For more than a decade, journalist and Author, Jamie Bartlett has been uncovering how the internet is reshaping our identities, relationships, and society. From social media algorithms and online extremism to misinformation, surveillance, and the future of democracy.

Jamie is the bestselling voice behind The Dark Net, The People vs Tech, The Missing Cryptoqueen, and most recently Endgame: Can We Live with Artificial General Intelligence? His most recent book is, How to Talk to AI (and how not to).

Elizabeth Oldfield is a writer, speaker, and author of the book Fully Alive: Tending to the Soul in Turbulent Times. She is the host of The Sacred podcast, where she engages guests from a wide range of backgrounds in thoughtful conversations about their core values, beliefs, and the ideas that shape them.

We’d love you to join us for a human, honest and curious conversation about one of the defining questions of our time.

Doors open at 7:00 pm with the live recording kicking off at 7:30 pm, so please ensure you are seated by then. Complimentary drinks and nibbles will be available after.

The conversation will be followed by a Q&A, after which the bar will be open.

There will be plenty of opportunity to chat and connect after the event, so we hope you’ll be able to stick around for that.

Use the promo SACRED–EARLY–BIRD to get your ticket for £12! (Promo ends on 08/08 at 23:59)

Faith in Democracy

Chaired by broadcaster Mishal Husain, hear from a distinguished panel including Dame Caroline Spelman, Vicky Fox, Dr Nick Spencer, and the Revd Dr James Hawkey about the prominent role faith has played in the evolution of British democracy. Together, they will consider what trust means at a time when political debate is frequently fractured, how citizens with profoundly different convictions can find common ground, and what it takes to disagree well when divisions run deep. In an increasingly pluralist and multi faith society, what are the shared values that can continue to sustain public trust and democratic consent?

As the UK’s democracy continues to evolve, join the conversation this Autumn about democracy’s past, present, and future.

About Theos 20

To celebrate 20 years of shaping public debate on religion and society, Theos are hosting a year–long programme of lectures, events, and ideas that looks ahead as much as it looks back, asking how faith, values, and moral reasoning can contribute to a more humane, trustworthy, and hopeful public life in the decades to come.
