Vanya Vaidehi Bhargav is an intellectual historian of modern South Asia, with interests in nationalism and secularism, as well as religious and political thought in general. She holds a DPhil in History from the University of Oxford and is an incoming Assistant Professor of Social Sciences at the National Law School, Bangalore, India. Vanya is the author of Being Hindu, Being Indian: Lala Lajpat Rai’s Ideas of Nationhood (Penguin Random House, 2024) and of peer–reviewed articles in journals such as the Journal of Asian Studies, Global Intellectual History, Studies in Indian Politics and Religions
