Paul Bickley, Madeleine Pennington and George Lapshynov
Paul Bickley is an independent researcher and consultant, and former head of political engagement at Theos. His work spans faith–based social innovation, civic engagement, and the evolving role of religion in public life. Paul has prior experience in Parliament and public affairs and holds an MLitt in theology from the University of St Andrews. He is also the pastor of Trinity Vineyard Church.
Madeleine Pennington is head of research at Theos. She holds a doctorate in theology from the University of Oxford, and is the author of various publications including Quakers, Christ and the Enlightenment (OUP, 2021), Cohesive Societies: Faith and Belief (British Academy, 2020), and Love, Grief, and Hope (Theos, 2023).
George Lapshynov is a Researcher at Theos. His background is in History and Politics, and he holds a Master of Research in International Relations from the University of Glasgow. He is the author of several Theos reports including From Strangers to Neighbours (2025), Religion Counts (2024), and Volunteering After the Pandemic (2023).
