The Use of the Bible in Contemporary Culture

The Use of the Bible in Contemporary Culture

The Bible has exerted a significant influence on western culture, especially in its art, but also in other spheres of public life including politics. Contemporary Western culture continues to make use of the Bible, often to contribute to public debate, where allusions to familiar biblical phrases, narratives or motifs are used to inform, shape, or reflect public opinion about subjects of contemporary concern.

In this conference Nick Spencer will be speaking on how the story of the Good Samaritan has been used in contemporary political discourse and what it has to say about Christianity and politics today.
