Voting and values: does religion count?

Do your religious beliefs -- or absence of them -- help determine your vote? In Britain and Australia, new studies seem to suggest a qualified "yes". Britain's Theos think tank has undertaken one of the most comprehensive studies on the issue. The study, Voting and Values in Britain: Does Religion Count? not only confirms some long held suspicions but contains some surprises, as well, especially on attitudes to welfare and tax among the faithful. And how do the findings compare with Australia?
